Letters:Help your community (gardens) grow

Nothing says spring like planning a community garden plot. If you have seen the fliers around town asking people to "get growing," then you know that there are some 10 by 20 ($20) and some 20 by 20 ($30) community garden plots available at the Spring Creek Garden.

Nothing says spring like planning a community garden plot. If you have seen the fliers around town asking people to "get growing," then you know that there are some 10 by 20 ($20) and some 20 by 20 ($30) community garden plots available at the Spring Creek Garden.

The Spring Creek Garden is a tranquil spot with a six-year track record for "peas" and quiet!

The Red Wing Community Gardens are strictly organic with sturdy fences, to keep out deer. Free access to running water makes for ideal gardening conditions. It's also a great place to meet nice people who are willing to share their gardening secrets.

For more information about getting growing at the Spring Creek Garden, call me at 651-385-8208 or Lynn Gustafson at 651-388-1340.

You know, the community gardens aren't only about growing vegetables, they're also about growing community.

Hank Brummer
