ONE YEAR REVIEW CITY OF RED WING

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on a required one-year review of the Conditional Use Permit issued to Anderson Home Services, LLC to operate a “Scrap and Salvage Service” at 2411 Old Zumbrota Street. The Red Wing Zoning Ordinance requires a Conditional Use Permit in the I-1 Light Industrial Zoning District for a Scrap and Salvage Service. City of Red Wing Resolution No. 6202, approved by the Red Wing City Council on January 24, 2011, required a one-year review of the Conditional Use Permit, including a public hearing, as a condition of approval. Due to several issues raised at the one-year review, another one-year review was required by the City Council for 2013.

Anderson Home Services is no longer in business; however, the new owner of the property, Kevin Simanski, will be operating a similar business at the site. The new business falls under the definition of a “Scrap and Salvage Service” as defined by the Red Wing Zoning Ordinance and is permitted to operate on the site according to the existing valid Conditional Use Permit. The new owner will operate on a much smaller scale and will store empty roll-off containers on the site and will occasionally store roll-off containers on the site containing scrap iron and salvageable wood from demolition projects.

The legal description of this property is as follows: Plat and Parcel Number: 55-228-0210

Lots 12, Block 3, Hallquist First Subdivision, City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota. More commonly known as 2411 Old Zumbrota Street.

Written or oral comments to said application may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission.
