Red Wing Area Seniors Briefs

The Red Wing Senior Center is located in the Professional Building and Community Center, 1407 W. Fourth St. All events listed are held at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Phone number is 651-267-3599.

Dance at the Elks Club

Bring a friend and dance to the music of the Key Notes, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday March 10. Cost is $7. All ages welcome.

Laurel and Hardy

Presenter William Hoyt will show the movie “A Haunting We will Go” at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 12.

Coumadin & MdINR Home Testing

Many patients can receive anticoagulation therapy tests at home, work or even on vacation. Red Wing Senior Center will hold a program at 10 a.m. Tuesday March 12 with a Lincare representative. Refreshments will be provided.

Social Security Accessibility

If you still receive a paper check for your Social Security or other federal benefit payments, you are required by law to have direct deposit to a bank account or receive a credit card account. Learn about these changes at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 12 or 10 a.m. Tuesday March 19.

Cookies and coffee will be served. Please call the Senior Center to sign up.

Men Only Group

Caregiving can be lonely for men, especially if they are expected by society to be confident, assertive, and courageous. The Senior Center is offering a caregiver support group just for men that will begin meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday March 14. Nick Even will facilitate.

First Train Trip

Plan now to spend a memorable day with a special grandchild Tuesday June 18. The train trip to La Crosse, Wis., costs $55 for children, $65 for adults and includes fare, lunch, snacks and admissions. Payment is required by March 15.

The following games will be played: Duplicate Bridge – 12:15 p.m. Thursday March 7; 500 – 1 p.m. Monday March 11; Euchre – 1 p.m. Monday March 18; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge – 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Chess – 1 p.m. Thursdays

Support services offered

Several support groups and services are available.

• Hearing screenings will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday March 13. The screenings are sponsored by Better Hearing Aid Centers.

• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Fairview Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
