Red Wing ended the regular season on a sour note Friday in a 70-55 loss on the road to Chaska.

The Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and forced the Wingers into 13 turnovers.

“They were able to do a pretty good job of getting to the basket and finishing strong,” Red Wing head coach Doug Toivonen said. “We were maybe just a step slower tonight. We’re working hard; I don’t know what it was.”

Senior Ryan Boldt had a good night for the Wingers (13-13, 4-10 Missota), going 10 of 14 from inside the 3-point line while finishing with a game-high 21 points. He also had seven rebounds and three assists.

“Ryan did a great job of going and attacking the basket,” Toivonen said. “He just got to the basket a ton.”

Red Wing got 12 points from Ty Buck and seven points from Jack Leurquin. Isaac Toivonen grabbed eight rebounds in the loss.

Chaska (13-13, 7-7 Missota) led 35-30 at halftime and had four players score in double figures for Chaska, led by Gavin Bjorklund’s 16 points. Eric West scored 15 points and Chris Auer and Jacob Hansen each finished with 11 points.

The Wingers will need to recover quickly after losing four of their last five games to close the regular season. Section 1AAA play begins Wednesday and seedings will be announced today.

“Everybody is 0-0,” Doug Toivonen said of records resetting for playoffs. “We get a home game on Wednesday. We’ll regroup.”
