A public reception for Megan Moore and Johanna Jones is set for 7 p.m. Friday March 8 at Crossings at Carnegie.
Moore grew up in Huntsville, Ala., and studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She now lives in Minneapolis and is a member of Studiopolis, a nine-artist studio. She says her work is a study of form, color and composition.
“Painting primarily with acrylics and oils, I create illustrative images with strong line work and a sense of balance and calm. Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts Movement … influence my style. Naturally occurring patterns and organic forms inspire my compositions. I explore pattern, light and shadow, and color in my paintings. My background in illustration manifests in many of my works, lending a narrative nature to the compositions,” Moore said.
Jones was born and raised in Minnesota and earned her bachelor’s degree from the San Francisco Art Institute. She studied in China with landscape painting masters.
She has been a scenic painter for fashion and commercial sets in Los Angeles, as well as a commissioned artist for print advertising.
Jones lives and paints in Northfield, Minn., but she also works as a healer. She is the creator of the Golden Key, a tool for life discernment and self-discovery.
“My paintings are an extension of my life conversations of healing, transformation and human development with love. I paint in oils and use figure, landscape and abstract techniques that best serve the conceptual message I am bringing forward,” she said.
The exhibit and reception are free, and people may view the exhibit during regular hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
