Letter: Fracking or anti-fracking. It didn’t matter

The editorial “Who Would be Mayor?” posed the question “Would Egan have taken such a beating if he’d accepted a job with an anti-fracking council?” (R-E, Feb. 23)

The editorial “Who Would be Mayor?” posed the question “Would Egan have taken such a beating if he’d accepted a job with an anti-fracking council?” (R-E, Feb. 23)

The answer is yes. The beating would have come from pro-fracking community members.

Direct involvement in such a contentious community issue is a conflict of interest regardless of which side of the issue one supports.

This is a reasonable expectation for citizens to have of our elected or appointed officials.
