Work on the $500 million, 150-mile 345 kilovolt project began near Pine Island.
“It has been six years since we started the public outreach, regulatory and routing process, and we will continue to work closely with landowners and local officials as construction moves forward,” CapX2020 co-executive director Priti Patel said.
Work on the first 16-mile segment from a new North Rochester Substation to the existing Northern Hills Substation is expected to be completed this summer. The segment between the north Rochester station and the Mississippi River is scheduled to start in August. and Wisconsin construction is set for 2015. The line is slated to be in service in 2015.
