Mayo Clinic Health System presents “Grieving: Hope in Understanding,” a no-cost grief support group for families and individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The meetings takes place 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning March 6 and continuing through April 10 at the medical center, 701 Hewitt Blvd.
“The death of a loved one triggers a grieving process that can be painful and lonely,” Chaplain Barbara vonHaaren said. “Your whole person – body, mind, and spirit – is affected. You are likely to experience many different feelings and thoughts as you grieve. This support group exists so that you can give expression to those thoughts and feelings, be understood by others who are going through a similar experience and thereby begin or continue to heal from the pain of loss.”
The five-week support and education series includes such topics as sharing your story, understanding grief, identifying feelings, taking care of yourself, building support and coping with holidays.
There is no charge for this group, but registration and a commitment to attend all or most of the sessions is required. For more information and to register, contact Chaplain Barbara von Haaren at 651-267-3532.
