Down 54-52 to Kasson-Mantorville at home on Tuesday, Goodhue had one last shot to tie the game.
With 2.4 seconds left, the Wildcats had the inbounds pass under the hoop. However, they were unable to convert on the last-second shot and the KoMets left the gym with a 54-52 victory.
“It was a nice effort by our guys down the stretch,” said Goodhue head coach Tony Poncelet. “They had to play catch-up ball in the second half and they came up just a little bit short.”
Riley Bollum kept the Wildcats in the game with his sharp shooting, hitting five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 18 points. Tyler Schumacher added eight points and Zach Hinsch had seven in the loss.
K-M held a slim 28-22 lead at halftime.
Goodhue (11-13) closes out the regular season with a Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division game Friday at Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
