Boys Basketball: Z-M stumbles against Cotter

After a tight first half, Winona Cotter pulled away from Zumbrota-Mazeppa, outscoring the Cougars 35-23 in the second half on the way to a 63-48 victory between Section 1AA opponents Tuesday in Zumbrota.
Lucas Ziemba, paced Z-M (12-11) with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Nathaniel Rauen added 10 points and five steals, and Kevin Niebuhr had 11 points and five rebounds.
Shooting was a struggle for the Cougars, as they went 6 of 32 from 3-point range and 18 of 58 from the field.
Losers of three straight, Z-M closes out the regular season Friday at home against Goodhue.
