Plane makes emergency landing at Red Wing Airport
BAY CITY - A single engine plane had to land without its gear late Friday evening at the Red Wing Airport.
BAY CITY - A single engine plane had to land without its gear late Friday evening at the Red Wing Airport.
The plane, piloted by Steve Hiltner, 30, of Rosemount, Minn., was attempting to land when the landing gear had reportedly failed. The plane skidded down the runway coming to a stop in the middle. Both the pilot and passenger, Corey Stever of St. Paul, were not injured.
The FAA was contacted and the plane was removed from the runway by Siewerts Towing of Red Wing to a secure location until it can be investigated by the FAA.
Assisting at the scene were the Ellsworth Fire Department, FAA and the Red Airport staff. The crash remains under investigation by the FAA and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
