Red Wing head coach Doug Toivonen said the Wingers were in control of their game against Northfield throughout on the way to a 67-57 victory in Northfield.

Ty Buck scored a game-high 23 points to go with four assists and four steals as Red Wing led 30-18 at halftime.

“We got off to a really good start,” Toivonen said. “We kind of stayed ahead by 10 or 12 in the second half. They hit a 3 right at the end of the game, at the buzzer. I thought we stayed in control in the second half.”

The Wingers (12-9, 4-6 Missota) finished with 11 offensive rebounds and Isaac Toivonen was perfect from the floor for Red Wing, going 8-for-8 to finish with 21 points and nine rebounds.

“He did a nice job of getting to the basket,” Doug Toivonen said. “I know he wasn’t happy with how he played against Holy Angels so it was a good bounce back game for him.”

The Raiders (6-15, 1-9 Missota) had two players score in double figures led by Eric Shepley’s 20 points. Jacob Mathison had 17 points. Northfield made 8 of 19 3-pointers in the loss.

“They shot really well from 3,” Doug Toivonen said. “We just did a good job of when they hit a 3 … we usually answered so that was big for us.”

The Wingers will host Chanhassen Tuesday before traveling to face Shakopee Thursday.
