Extension offers crops day, pesticide training

The University of Minnesota Extension will hold a crops day Feb. 26 and a private pesticide applicator recertification workshop Feb. 28.
The crops day will offer producers strategies for managing nitrogen fertilizer and corn rootworms in a changing climate. The event will at Dakota Electric Association, 4300 220th St. W.. Farmington, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 26. The crops day is free, but pre-registration is requested to Phyllis Bongard by Feb. 21 at 651-480-7757 or bonga028@umn.edu).
Minnesota farmers whose private pesticide applicator licenses expire March 1 can renew their permit by attending the workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday Feb. 28 p.m. Dakota County Extension and Conservation Center, 4100 220th St. W., Farmington. Participants should bring a government-issued photo ID, current certification number and the $50 fee (check or cash only). Pre-registration is not required.
