Letter: Duck stories didn't tell everything
I would like to tell you the truth about the terrible things printed about me. My picture again appeared in the paper (R-E, Feb. 9). The last time was Oct. 17. The paper made it sound like I spent four days in jail. I did not. I went in four days earlier for fingerprinting. The gals at the jail were so nice. They even thanked me for coming in early to get it done. While they were doing a background check, they put the jail coat on me, took my picture and let me go.By: Wendy Stumpf, The Republican Eagle
To the Editor:
I would like to tell you the truth about the terrible things printed about me. My picture again appeared in the paper (R-E, Feb. 9). The last time was Oct. 17. The paper made it sound like I spent four days in jail. I did not. I went in four days earlier for fingerprinting. The gals at the jail were so nice. They even thanked me for coming in early to get it done. While they were doing a background check, they put the jail coat on me, took my picture and let me go.
Where are all the hard-core criminal pictures? If the R-E wants to pick on me with my picture, attach it to this letter.
I am taking full responsibility for my actions. I openly apologized in court and had tears running down my cheeks. I will gratefully do 40 hours of service so I can give back to the community what I took and hope my efforts will prove I am full of remorse for that horrible night.
They left something off the duck that I wrote: “Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve.” An hour after the dirty deed, the police arrived at my house. I denied everything. I found out my statement had been washed off and “PFLAG no vote no no” written over it. I’m sure PFLAG is a wonderful organization and supports people, but I do not know what that statement means; why would I write that?
I am not blaming anyone from this organization, but someone who really understood that must have felt it was an important part of my destruction. I never thought about treat your neighbors as you wish to be treated. That's when it hit me — like I was driving a car and had to stop fast and luggage in the back seat flew up and hit me in the back of the head. That's when I knew I had made a big mistake and even tried taking some people down with me.
So I will do my service and pay for repainting Bob the Duck.
This letter is not meant to harm, but just a chance for me to shed a little truth to the situation.
