Girls Basketball: Solid 1st-half shooting puts Z-M past Cannon Falls

Shooting 45 percent from the field in the first half, Zumbrota-Mazeppa jumped out to a 29-10 halftime lead, leading the way to a 54-24 Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division victory over Cannon Falls Friday in Cannon Falls.

Pacing the Cougars was Amber Jentsch, who finished with 13 points, six rebounds and six steals.

Courtney Woodcock led the Bombers in scoring with 10 points, while also grabbing five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Z-M (8-12, 4-5 HVL Blue) travels to Lake City on Tuesday, while Cannon Falls (1-21, 0-11 HVL Blue) heads to Kenyon-Wanamingo.
