Wrestling: Bombers 1st at home tourney

Hosting a six-team dual tournament on Saturday, the Cannon Falls/Randolph wrestling team took first place, going 3-0. The Bombers opened with a win against Plainview-Elgin-Millville (55-18), and went on to claim victories over Rochester John Marshall (55-21) and Hopkins (57-15).
A quick start was key for Cannon Falls/Randolph against P-E-M as the Bombers won their first five matches with two technical falls and a pin by Tyler Wilson at 120 pounds. Roman Wundrow (145 pounds), Derek Johnson (170) and Nathan Melhouse (195) also tallied wins via pinfall in the victory.
Against John Marshall, Cannon Falls/Randolph jumped out to another quick start, building a 22-0 lead thanks to pinfalls by Ryan Epps, Wilson and Keston Lopez at 113, 120 and 126 pounds. The Bombers closed out the match strong by winning three of the final four matches, including pinfalls from Justin Miest (182 pounds) and Clay Broze (220).
Cannon Falls/Randolph’s lightweights pulled through against in the victory against Hopkins. At 106 pounds, Paul Fitterer won via pinfall in 2 minutes, 25 seconds, jump-starting a 24-0 run to open the match. From there, the Bombers cruised, thanks to pinfalls by Lopez (126 pounds), Wundrow (145), Johnson (170), Miest (182) and Melhouse (195).
