Wrestling: Goodhue goes undefeated at weekend tournament

Goodhue continued its roll on Saturday, going a perfect 3-0 at the Robbinsdale Armstrong tournament. The Wildcats started strong with a win over South St. Paul (45-28) and finished out the tournament with victories over Maple Grove (51-16) and host Robbinsdale Armstrong (63-12).
Trailing 9-6 after three matches, Goodhue rolled after a decision by Mason Huemann at 126 pounds. The Wildcats then won six of the next seven matches, including pinfalls by Kyle Drehmel (132 pounds), Logan Breuer (138), Matthew Deneen (152), Mitchell Breuer (160) and Jacob Blattner (170). Ryan Tipcke also had a pinfall victory at 220 pounds, winning in 43 seconds.
Goodhue’s middleweights continued to set the tone in the victory over Maple Grove. Holding a 12-10 lead through six matches, Riley Huemann won a 13-6 decision at 145 pounds, sparking a 27-point run. In that stretch, Deneen (152 pounds), Breuer (160), Blattner (170) and Charles Dahling (182) pulled off consecutive pinfalls. Josh Dahling added a pinfall at 285 pounds as Goodhue cruised to a victory.
After winning the first two matches via forfeit against Robbinsdale Armstrong, Goodhue won five straight matches by pinfall in a 39-point run. By the end of the match, Matthew Lexvold (126 pounds), Drehmel (132), Logan Breuer (138), Riley Huemann (145), Mitchell Breuer (152), Dahling (170), Tipcke (220) and Dahling (285) each won by pinfall.
