Boys Basketball: New setting doesn’t deter Bombers in win

A water main break at Cannon Falls High School created a slight distraction for the Bombers’ boys basketball team but it didn’t show Friday night as they trounced Triton 74-35 at the Cannon Community Center.

Cannon Falls held a 35-19 rebounding edge Friday night and shot nearly 60 percent inside the 3-point line in the victory.

“We’ve practiced down there a few times so we’re familiar with the place,” Cannon Falls head coach Josh Davisson said of the CCC. “It wasn’t really a big deal for us. It’s kind of a neat atmosphere but definitely don’t want to do it every time. … The biggest thing was probably getting the word out that there was a location change.”

The Bombers (11-8, 7-2 HVL Blue) also held the Cobras to 11 of 46 shooting and forced 13 turnovers.

“We moved our feet pretty well on defense, after a few reminders,” Davisson said.

Tanner Jackson scored a game-high 15 points for Cannon Falls and also grabbed seven rebounds. Jordan Lundell finished with 13 points and five rebounds while Noah Callister tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Hunter Johnson provided four points and six rebounds for the Bombers.

Triton (2-15, 0-8 HVL Blue) had just one player, Alex Finne (11 points), score in double figures. Cody Schaefer had eight points in the loss.

Cannon Falls travels to face Goodhue Tuesday.
