Boys Basketball: Lake City head coach gets 400th career win Friday

With 17 points from Ben Schramski and a game-clinching steal and layup by Coleman Sweeney, Lake City stayed atop the Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division with a 61-54 victory over Kenyon-Wanamingo Friday in Kenyon.
With the victory, Tigers head coach Shawn Sweeney picked up his 400th career win. He has 101 wins with the boys team, and had 399 wins as the head coach of the Lake City girls.
Forcing the Knights into 15 turnovers, the Tigers had a 25-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
Tied at 54-54 with three minutes left, Lake City scored the last seven points of the game. Jake Griebenow had 12 points and six rebounds, and Coleman Sweeney added nine points and three steals.
K-W was led by Sam Roosen’s 11 points, while Zach Quaale dropped 10 in the loss.
The Tigers (15-3, 8-1 HVL Blue) host Triton on Tuesday.
