In a rematch of the Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division’s top two teams, Pine Island came out on top against Goodhue with a 51-46 victory Friday in Pine Island.
With the victory, the Panthers stay undefeated in the HVL Blue, while both of the Wildcats’ conference losses have come against Pine Island, which beat Goodhue 48-42 on Jan. 15.
The Wildcats’ Mikayla Miller led all scorers with 19 points. Kali Ryan added nine, and Emilee Roschen and Meredith Watson both chipped in with six in the loss.
Cede Finstuen paced the Panthers with 18 points, while Alison Newton and Mattie Shelton added 11 and 10, respectively. Winning its ninth straight, Pine Island (16-3, 8-0 HVL Blue) scored 13 points from the free-throw line, compared to just three for Goodhue.
The Wildcats (17-4, 7-2 HVL Blue) stay on the road Tuesday, traveling to Cannon Falls.
