For the third straight game, the Red Wing girls basketball team faced one of the top teams in the Missota Conference, traveling to No. 4-ranked (3A) Chaska. And for the third straight game, the Wingers were unable to get into the win column, falling 66-56 on Friday.

“Chaska’s one of the top teams in 3A, Chanhassen’s probably going to win the conference and Shakopee is a 4A school,” Red Wing head coach Dave Muelken said of his team’s three-game slide. “And with New Prague coming next week, it doesn’t get any easier.”

Tesha Buck had a team-high 26 points for Red Wing, despite missing nearly 15 minutes with an injury, Muelken said. McKenzie Muelken added 14 for the Wingers (14-5, 6-3 Missota).

Trailing 33-24 at halftime, Red Wing was unable to complete the comeback as Buck, McKenzie Muelken and Macy Kelly each fouled out.

On Tuesday, the Wingers return home to host fifth-ranked (3A) New Prague. On Jan. 8, Red Wing pulled away with a 61-51 road victory over the then-No. 3 Trojans.
