Bonhoeffer Society's former international president to speak here

The Bonhoeffer Society of Red Wing will hold a public discussion Feb. 9 of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s classic book “The Cost of Discipleship.”

The Bonhoeffer Society of Red Wing will hold a public discussion Feb. 9 of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s classic book “The Cost of Discipleship.”

Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, dissident anti-Nazi, founding member of the Confessing Church and a martyr. He died April 9, 1945, in the Flossenbürg concentration camp.

The Rev. John Matthews of Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, Minn., will lead the discussion. He is the past president of the International Bonhoeffer Society, which is a nonprofit, ecumenical and interfaith scholarly organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Bonhoeffer’s legacy.
