Girls Basketball: Slow first half hampers Ellsworth

The Ellsworth girls basketball team remains winless in the Middle Border Conference after a 45-31 loss to Amery Thursday in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth (1-14, 0-10 Middle Border) was led on offense by Kelsey Betthauser, who had a game-high 16 points. Ellsworth outscored Durand 18-14 in the second half, but could not overcome a 31-13 halftime deficit.

Durand (12-4, 7-3 Middle Border) got a team-high nine points from Jackie Hoyt, while Lindsay Komro added seven in the victory.

Ellsworth travels to Prescott on Tuesday.
