Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and Valspar Corporation will offer free paint and coating products for community restoration or beautification projects.

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and Valspar Corporation will offer free paint and coating products for community restoration or beautification projects.

“The Picture-It-Painted program reminds us that collaboration shapes and improves our communities. Funded projects involve a number of volunteers and will provide their communities with an asset they can enjoy for years to come,” SMIF President Tim Penny said.

Projects that may qualify for a grant include historic buildings or structures, senior citizen centers, community centers, libraries and other public buildings. Churches, privately owned facilities and non-permanent structures do not qualify. Between eight and 10 projects will be awarded paint products based on visual impact, public benefit, volunteer participation, intended use and benefit to those in need.

Applications for a grant should be submitted to SMIF by March 4. To apply, visit www.smifoundation.org and click on applications or contact Jennifer at jenniferh@smifoundation.org or 507-455-3215.
