Wrestling: Wildcats finish 2-1 at Cooper

The Goodhue wrestling team went 2-1 at the Robbinsdale Cooper Darrel Sohn Duals on Saturday, picking up wins over Minneapolis Patrick Henry and Minneapolis Southwest before losing to Annandale/Maple Lake.

The Goodhue wrestling team went 2-1 at the Robbinsdale Cooper Darrel Sohn Duals on Saturday, picking up wins over Minneapolis Patrick Henry and Minneapolis Southwest before losing to Annandale/Maple Lake.

In their 49-23 win over Patrick Henry, the Wildcats’ Matthew Lexvold, Kyle Drehmel, Logan Breuer and Garett Huemann won consecutive matches by pinfall at 126, 132, 138 and 145 pounds, respectively. Bailee O’Reilly picked up five points in a 16-0 technical fall at 106 pounds.

Goodhue had seven wins via pinfall against Minneapolis Southwest, winning in dominating fashion, 72-0. O’Reilly (106 pounds), Joel Gadient (113), Lexvold (126), Drehmel (132), Riley Huemann (145), Mitchell Breuer (152) and Ryan Tipcke (220) each had pinfall victories for Goodhue.

After falling behind 13-0 after three matches against Annandale/Maple Lake, the Wildcats put up 11 straight points with a pinfall by Lexvold and a technical fall by Drehmel. But Annandale/Maple Lake won six of the next seven matches, including two by pinfall, to take the dual, 41-23.

Goodhue returns to the mat Saturday in a tournament at Robbinsdale Armstrong.
