Girls Basketball: Cannon Falls trounced by Pine Island

The Panthers jumped out to a 30-7 halftime lead, cruising to a 63-22 victory over the Bombers in Pine Island.

Coming off of its first win of the season on Thursday, Cannon Falls ran into Pine Island, the top team in the Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division, on Friday. The Panthers jumped out to a 30-7 halftime lead, cruising to a 63-22 victory over the Bombers in Pine Island.

Cede Finstuen paced a balanced Panthers attack, scoring 12 points in the victory. Nicole Fokken finished with eight points, and Bailie Bakken and Noelle Langworthy each had seven for Pine Island.

Leah Meyers had a team-high six points for Cannon Falls, while Grace Rutter added five in the loss. Both Meyers and Rutter had four rebounds.

The Bombers (1-18, 0-8 HVL Blue) head to Dodge Center on Feb. 1 to face Triton.
