Girls Basketball: Goodhue overtakes Lake City for HVL Blue win

Goodhue trailed Lake City for much of Friday’s game in Goodhue. The Tigers led 29-26 at half but midway through the second half, the Wildcats dialed up the defensive pressure and secured a 65-57 victory.

Goodhue trailed Lake City for much of Friday’s game in Goodhue.

The Tigers led 29-26 at half but midway through the second half, the Wildcats dialed up the defensive pressure and secured a 65-57 victory.

Mikayla Miller led all scorers with 28 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds for the Wildcats (17-3, 7-1 HVL Blue). Mikayla Tipcke and Kali Ryan each had 10 points while Meredith Watson pulled down five offensive rebounds in the win.

Goodhue finished with 16 offensive rebounds.

Taylor Koller scored 18 points to lead the Tigers (11-7, 4-4 HVL Blue). Madi Green added 12 points and Breanna Gates scored 11 points.

The Wildcats host Zumbrota-Mazeppa Tuesday and Lake City faces Pine Island Tuesday at home.
