Boys Basketball: Second-half surge leads Pine Island over Cannon Falls

Colton Sinning had quite the second half for Pine Island Friday at home against Cannon Falls.
The Panthers trailed 29-22 at halftime but Sinning knocked down six 3-pointers after the break, seven in total, and led the team with 23 points in a 71-69 victory over the Bombers.
The loss was just the second for Cannon Falls in the Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division.
Cannon Falls had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but two attempts missed to seal Pine Island’s victory.
Paul Rolfes led the Bombers (9-8, 6-2 HVL Blue) with 16 points and three steals. Brock Peterson contributed 15 points, five rebounds and four assists while Noah Callister had 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Panthers had four players score in double figures, led by Sinning. Jared Lohmeyer added 17 points and eight rebounds, Ben Warneke tallied 13 points and five rebounds and Alex Traut scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Cannon Falls plays again Monday at home against Prescott (Wis.).
