Boys Basketball: Lake City wins late against Goodhue

Lake City’s Ben Schramski hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 37.2 seconds left in the second half and came up with the game-clinching steal, helping the Tigers to a 43-41 Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division victory over Goodhue Friday in Lake City.
Following Schramski’s steal, Jake Griebenow hit 1 of 2 free throws with 3.7 seconds left to make it a two-point game. Goodhue’s Alex Thomforde put up a desperation heave from behind the half court line that rimmed out to give the Tigers the home victory.
Mitch Kuchinka, Schramski and Griebenow each led Lake City with nine points apiece. Griebenow also had six rebounds, while Mitch Kuchinka added three assists and four steals. In his first game of the season, Coleman Sweeney finished with four points, four rebounds and two blocks.
Pacing the Wildcats was Riley Bollum, who had a game-high 15 points. Tyler Schumacher had nine points, and Zach Hinsch grabbed eight rebounds to go with four points.
Lake City (14-3, 7-1 HVL Blue) travels to Pine Island on Tuesday, while Goodhue (7-10, 2-6 HVL Blue) heads to Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Tuesday.
