The Red Wing gymnastics team had a tough time with the uneven bars Tuesday as the Wingers dropped its dual meet on the road against Chaska/Chanhassen.
Red Wing scored a 121.425 to the Storm Hawks 132.15.
“We struggled a little bit on bars,” Red Wing assistant coach Lisa Hanson said. “We just didn’t’ focus. That’s what hurt us this meet; we’ll focus on that this week in practice.”
The Wingers did put together good scores on the vault with Irina Anderson tying for first place with a score of 8.7. Chaska/Chanhassen’s Leah Kutsch also scored an 8.7.
Jordan Munson delivered a person best of 8.3 on the vault to finish in sixth place for Red Wing.
“Every girl just did very well on vault tonight,” Hanson said. “That was our highlight.”
Carlie Sandstrom placed third in the all-around competition with a 30.625 for the Wingers and Molly Hart took fourth with a 30.575 in the all-around.
The Storm Hawks’ Rachel Nornes finished first with a 33.75 in the all-around.
Red Wing will participate in an invitational Saturday at Hudson (Wis.) before hosting Pine Island Tuesday.
