Rep. Tim Kelley nailed the current partisan power grab situation at the Capitol with his recent column about DFL committee assignments (R-E, Jan. 19).
According to their own website, the DFL claims to represent "all" Minnesotans. Their actions speak very differently. Farmers and small community economies will likely get the "shaft" with the power shift that has occurred in this last election and the expansion of control by the metro areas.
With the environmental committee controlling the farm agenda and 22 of 29 committee chairs hailing from the Twin Cities and rural Minnesota getting only four chairs, I wouldn't take Vegas odds on the farmer or small town winning.
Environmentalists won't even recognize that wind turbines kill our bald eagles. How will they empathize with real life business farm issues?
Maybe it's time for some truth in advertising, the DFL — Democratic Farmer Labor Party — should rename itself to the DEL — Democratic Environmentalist Labor Party. That's who they truly represent … not all Minnesotans.
