Pine Island’s defense overwhelmed Zumbrota-Mazeppa Friday as the Panthers defeated the Cougars 50-26 in Pine Island.

Z-M shot just 10-for-37 from the field and a season-worst 6 of 19 at the free-throw line. The Cougars did not make a 3-pointer.

Molly Lawler led the Cougars (4-11, 1-4 HVL Blue) with seven points and Amber Jentsch went 2-for-2 from the field and had four rebounds.

Pine Island got a game-high 18 points from Nicole Fokken in the victory. The Panthers led 32-10 at the half.

Z-M hosts Cannon Falls Tuesday in Zumbrota.
