Red Wing returned to the pool three days after the Winger Invitational and defeated Rochester Mayo Tuesday in a 95-73 dual meet victory.

“This was a great meet for the boys to change things up but still be competitive,” Red Wing head coach Kevin O’Brien said. “Having four meets in seven days this week, I really wanted to give the boys a chance to swim some off events. Most of the boys swam at least one off event.”

The Wingers had six event victories Tuesday in Rochester. Josh Berg won the 200-yard freestyle for the Wingers in 1 minute, 58.22 seconds, Tanner Alms took first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.54, and Adam Sienczak was first in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.86. Hunter Connelly and Alms finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Connelly swam the race in 57.19 seconds and Alms came in with a time of 58.40 seconds.

Red Wing’s 200 freestyle relay team of Sienczak, Dan O’Keefe, Ted Toegel and Tanner Alms finished in first in 1:34.04, .65 seconds ahead of Rochester Mayo. Sienczak, Berg, Ethan Myers and Alms also helped Red Wing win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.14.

Next up, the Wingers face Chanhassen/Chaska Thursday on the road.

“The boys are looking forward to and focusing on the meet Thursday against Chanhassen/Chaska,” O’Brien said. “Chanhassen/Chaska is one of the better teams in the conference so there will be some great competition.”
