Wrestling: Lake City 4th at P-E-M tournament

With a team score of 111.5, the Lake City wrestling team finished in fourth place at the 11-team Plainview-Elgin-Millville tournament on Saturday.

With a team score of 111.5, the Lake City wrestling team finished in fourth place at the 11-team Plainview-Elgin-Millville tournament on Saturday.

Coming away with the team title was Scott West, which finished with 193.5 points. Plainview-Elgin-Millville (175), Maple River (130), Lake City and Byron (101.5) rounded out the top five.

Three Tiger wrestlers made the finals of their respective weight classes, with Carston Dammann taking the lone title for Lake City. At 113 pounds, Dammann won a 12-1 major decision over P-E-M’s Sam Ebin to take first place.

Andrew Schmidt (126 pounds) and Andrew Denzer (285) each had second-place finishes. Schmidt fell in an 11-4 decision against P-E-M’s Jordan Getschmann, and Denzer lost via pinfall at 1 minute, 29 seconds against P-E-M’s Nolan Folkert.

Kevin McGinley (106 pounds) and Derek Bremer (152) each had third-place finishes in their respective weight classes.
