Down in Cresco, Iowa on Saturday for the Flanagan Invitational, the Goodhue wrestling team finished in third place out of 10 teams with 194.5 points.
Taking first place was Decorah (Iowa) with 222.5 points, followed by host Crestwood with 217.5.
The Wildcats had a pair of first-place victories from Kyle Drehmel and Josh Dahling, and had a second-place finish from Mitchell Breuer. At 126 pounds, Drehmel came away with a 16-2 major decision against Hayfield’s Cameryn Stadler. Then at 285 pounds, Dahling clinched a victory via pinfall over Cedar Falls’ Dakota Pepperling in 5 minutes, 27 seconds.
Reaching the finals at 152 pounds, Breuer fell in a 9-6 decision to Decorah’s Hans Holkesvik.
Goodhue also had four wrestlers finish in third place: Bailee O’Reilly (106 pounds), Joel Gadient (113), Jacob Blattner (160) and Ryan Tipcke (220).
On Thursday, the Wildcats host a quadrangular with Cannon Falls, Wabasha-Kellogg and Rochester John Marshall. Matches are set to begin at 5 p.m.
