“Daddy” Mack Orr and his band will perform during an evening of blues Jan. 19 at the Sheldon Theatre.
The Daddy Mack Blues Band, a four-piece group led by Mack on vocals, has played for more than 15 years. The band's second album, “Slow Ride,” featuring Billy Gibson, has been climbing blues charts and was a Top 50 download on iTunes. On the album, the group performs blues versions of rocks hits from artists such as Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana.
Orr still works a day job at his shop, Mack's Auto Repair on Jackson Avenue. The group is based in Memphis, Tenn.
The band will be joined at the Sheldon by local blues group the Back Channel Blues Band. The area musicians have been playing together since 1989. The group mixes the sounds of blues, rock and R&B.
The Back Channel Blues Band is: Fungus on lead vocals, Dave Murphy on bass, Craig Wronski on guitar, Tom Glass on drums, Jim Belden on keys and Jeff Ekblad on guitar.
Catch both blues acts at the Sheldon Theatre starting at 7 p.m. Jan. 19. Tickets are $23.50 for adults and $15.50 for students.
