Red Wing Area Seniors

The Red Wing Senior Center is located in the Professional Building and Community Center, 1407 W. Fourth St. All events listed are held at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Call 651-267-3599 for more information.

Games available

The following games will be played:

• Duplicate bridge — 12:15 p.m. Thursday Jan. 3

• Scrabble — 1 p.m. Wednesdays

• Wii bowling — 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays

Get a massage

Massage sessions are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from massage therapist Allison Wesch. Cost is $40 for one hour or $30 for a half hour.

To make an appointment, call Wesch directly at 651-332-4614. Sessions are held at the Senior Center. Massage gift certificates are also available.

Needlework done weekly

Needlework and blanket-tying is done every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Participants can join in tying fleece blankets or bring their own needlework project.

Peer support available

Seniors Helping Seniors peer support volunteers are skilled and committed to helping other seniors who are experiencing distress in their lives.

If you need someone to talk to or you know someone who does, please contact Robin Wipperling at 651-385-3456.

Volunteers will do small home repairs

Senior Home Work provides volunteers who can help with minor home repair and maintenance projects at no or little cost.

You will be asked to help pay for needed supplies, however, no labor costs will be charged for the work completed. For more information, call 651-267-3599.

Need something typed?

Do you have a letter, a family story or something else that you would like typed?

Experienced typists are willing to volunteer their services if you give a donation to the Senior Center for the finished work. Simply bring in the hand-written correspondence and it will be ready to be picked up within a few days.

Seniors invited to learn gentle yoga

Learn gentle yoga positions with certified yoga instructor Michelle Hoffman from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays.

Cost for 6 sessions is $45 for individuals or $80 for couples. Yoga can reduce chronic health conditions, improve sleep, increase energy, restore balance, and improve attitude and overall quality of life.
