'The Secret Garden'
Local children will present “The Secret Garden” at the Sheldon Theatre on Jan. 12.
Working with the Missoula Children’s Theatre, students in grades kindergarten through 12 have a week to learn the musical and then perform two shows for the community. Auditions are Jan. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the performances are the following Saturday.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre travels around the USA and other countries bringing everything it takes to put on a full-scale production — except the cast. Local children participate to make the show a reality.
“The Secret Garden” follows the adventures of Mary as she travels from India to her uncle’s house in England and discovers a garden on his property. The household starts to enjoy returning the abandoned garden to health.
The play, music and lyrics are written by Michael McGill.
Later in January, the Missoula Children’s Theatre will present “Hansel and Gretel” at the Sheldon Theatre.
“The Secret Garden” will be performed at 3 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for students.
