Cannon Falls had second-ranked (2A) St. Peter on the ropes Saturday in the championship game of the St. Peter Holiday tournament before falling 69-60.

The Bombers led 28-20 at halftime as Jordan Lundell had 13 first-half points and finished with a game-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

“Lundell played really well in the first half,” Cannon Falls head coach Josh Davisson said. “We played very well and we were very patient on offense.”

Brock Peterson added nine points, Noah Callister provided eight rebounds and Paul Rolfes had five rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Bombers (3-6, 0-1 HVL Blue).

The Saints (7-1) were led by Peter Kruize and Tommy Steidler, who each had 21 points.

“They’re definitely deserving of their ranking,” Davisson said. “They shot the ball really well.”

St. Peter did not get to the free-throw line in the first half but helped grab the victory by making 21 of 29 free throws after halftime.

“We still played good defense but they did a nice job of attacking us in the second half and getting to the line,” Davisson said.

Cannon Falls made just 3 of 4 free throws in the loss.

“I’d say our guys played just as aggressive as they did but that’s how things go sometimes,” Davisson said.

Lundell and Peterson were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Bombers host Goodhue Friday.
