Cannon Falls forced 17 turnovers Friday against Le Sueur-Henderson and came away with a 62-54 victory in the first round of the St. Peter Tournament.
The Bombers led 31-25 at halftime and made 7 of 12 3-pointers in the win.
“The big thing for us was defensively we started out much better than we have in recent games,” Cannon Falls head coach Josh Davisson said. “And we just played a lot smarter on offense. We were able to get better looks. We were more patient. It was a nice win for them; we needed to get back on track.”
Jordan Lundell finished with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists to lead Cannon Falls (3-5, 0-1 HVL Blue) while Brock Peterson provided 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Tanner Jackson had 12 points and four rebounds.
The Bombers struggled from the free-throw line again, going 9 of 19 and 0 of 8 in the first half.
The Giants were led by Cody Wirt with 15 points. Matt Rinehart and Ty O’Brien each tallied 12 points.
Cannon Falls will play second-ranked (2A) St. Peter today at 7:45 p.m. in the championship game of the tournament.
