Red Wing held on for a 3-2 victory against Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper Friday during the second round of the All Star Sports Holiday Classic at New Hope Ice Arena.
The second-ranked (1A) Wingers outshot the 16th-ranked (2A) Falcons 43-23 as Armstrong/Cooper goaltender Ashley Ritten made 40 saves.
Nicole Schammel led Red Wing (15-1, 3-0 Missota) yet again with two goals and an assist in the win. Both her goals came in the third period.
Emily Stegora scored a power-play goal in the first period with an assist by Schammel to give the Wingers a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Wingers face Champlin Park today at 7 p.m. in the championship game of the tournament.
