Boys Basketball: Free-throw shooting paces Lake City win

Lake City got the better of Lewiston-Altura Saturday in a 73-65 shootout at the Target Center.

Lake City got the better of Lewiston-Altura Saturday in a 73-65 shootout at the Target Center.

The Tigers (5-1) shot 32-for-38 at the free-throw line and forced 14 turnovers in the victory.

Ben Schramski and Reid Lundell paced Lake City with 22 points and five rebounds each while Jake Griebenow added 13 points. Schramski made six 3-pointers Brady Kuchinka contributed six points, five rebounds and three assists.

Lewiston-Altura (4-2) was led by Josh Ehlenfeldt with 27 points, including five 3-pointers, and eight rebounds. Nate Reps had 16 points.

Ehlenfeldt scored 23 points in the first half as the Cardinals built a 43-28 lead with 2 minutes, 23 seconds left in the first half. The Tigers responded by scoring the final eight points of the half and trailed 43-36 at halftime.

In the second half, Lake City took its first lead on a pair of free throws by Griebenow with 6:37 remaining and the Tigers sealed the win by scoring their final 18 points at the free-throw line.

Lake City hosts Pine Island Tuesday.
