Hallwalking

Red Wing School District buildings are open for walking before and after school. Walkers must register at the Community Rec office. They are issued a walking badge that must be worn while in the schools. Cost is $5.

Open skating

Open skating will be available at Prairie Island Arena from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the ice season. Weekend skating is available from 2:45 to 4 p.m. Dec. 22, 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Dec. 23, 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Dec. 29 and 3 to 4:15 p.m. Dec. 30. Cost is $3 per skater, and rental skates are available for $3.

Skate with Santa

The Red Wing Figure Skating Club will holds its Skate with Santa event from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday Dec. 16 at Prairie Island Arena. People can skate, take a photo with Santa Claus and enjoy refreshments. Proceeds benefit the skating club.

Outdoor skating rink

The outdoor skating rink at the Red Wing Athletic Field will open Dec. 20, weather permitting. One rink is for open skating while the other is for hockey. Warming house hours are 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 8 p.m. weekends and holidays. Hours are subject to change due to weather. Skates are available for use at no cost.
