Wrestling: Z-M goes 2-0 at home triangular

In the final dual of Friday’s triangular, 10th-ranked (1A) Zumbrota-Mazeppa trailed Goodhue 20-18 before the Cougars rattled off 30 straight points to pull away for a 48-26 victory in Zumbrota.
At 160 pounds, Chase Steffen got Z-M rolling with a pin in 17 seconds over Charles Dahling. Dillon Downes added a pinfall in 38 seconds over Matthew Deneen at 170, then the Cougars went on to win via forfeit in the next three matches.
Matthew Lexvold (126 pounds) and Ryan Tipcke (285) each won by pinfall for Goodhue, and Kyle Drehmel won in a 15-0 major decision at 132 pounds.
Goodhue won its dual with Pine Island, 45-30, thanks to five pinfals by Joel Gadient (113), Lexvold (126), Dan Clugston (138), Dahling (170) and Jacob Blattner (182). At 152 pounds, Mitchell Breuer picked up a 4-2 decision over Mitchell Kukson.
In its first match, Z-M pulled away from Pine Island for a 46-24 victory.
