Shooting just 30 percent from the field, Zumbrota-Mazeppa was outscored 24-18 in the second half in a 47-40 loss to Bethlehem Academy Friday in Zumbrota.

Lucas Ziemba paced the Cougars with 16 points of 6 of 11 shooting. Kevin Niebuhr added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and Nathaniel Rauen had seven points.

Z-M struggled mightily from 3-point range, shooting 4-for-21 from beyond the arc.

The Cougars also had trouble converting on the free-throw line, going 4 of 11.

Looking for its first win, Z-M (0-2) hosts La Crescent on Tuesday.
