Hosting Stewartville and Triton on Thursday at Lincoln High School, the Lake City wrestling team went 1-1 with a 42-34 loss to Stewartville and a 37-30 victory against Triton.
In their first match against Stewartville, Lake City got victories from Kevin McGinley (113 pounds), Carston Dammann (120), Andrew Schmidt (132), Shane Siewert (152), Will Balow (182), Joel Gay (195) and Andrew Denzer (285). Dammann, Balow, Gay and Denzer each won by pinfall, with Gay getting the quickest pin at 2 minutes, 50 seconds.
Leading 36-28 with two matches to go, Stewartville cemented the dual at 220 pounds when Adam Gehling scoring a pinfall at 1:06.
Against Triton in the final match, Lake City jumped out to a 16-0 lead, aided by pinfall victories by McGinley and Dammann at 113 and 120 pounds, respectively.
The Cobras cut the gap to 16-9, but Noah Bailey put the Tigers back on the board with a 17-15 decision over Gavin Bowman at 138 pounds.
Holding onto a 33-30 lead, Denzer clinched the dual for Lake City at 285 pounds with a 9-0 major decision over Adam Vacura.
The Tigers are back on the mat on Dec. 13, facing La Crescent and Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson in La Crescent.
