Three Red Wing businesses failed alcohol compliance checks, the Red Wing Police Department reported.
Liberty’s Restaurant and Lounge, 303 W. Third St., Liquor King, 827 Main St., and Applebee’s, 156 N. Tyler Road, all sold alcohol to people under 21 years old. These businesses could face fines or liquor license restrictions. The employees who made the sale could also face criminal charges.
Nineteen other businesses passed the check, which were conducted Nov. 30. During the checks, a police officer sends an underage person into the store and has them try to buy alcohol. The minor must show ID if asked and cannot lie about their age. If the sale is made, the business fails the check.
