Paul Randall Nystuen, 68, of Red Wing, died Sunday, Dec. 2, at his home.

Paul Randall Nystuen, 68, of Red Wing, died Sunday, Dec. 2, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1944, in Albert Lea, Minn., to Floyd and Doris (Satterlee) Nystuen. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1962. On Dec. 11, 1965, he married Ellen Roschen at Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing and began working for SB Foot Tannery that same year. In 1978, the family moved to Dumas, Texas, and returned to Red Wing in 2003. After 43 years with the Tannery, he retired in 2008. Ellen died on July 20, 2004.

He had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumas, Texas, and was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge BPOE 845, both in Red Wing. He was an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed traveling and reading the paper.

Survivors include four children, Randy (Alesha) Nystuen of Cumming, Ga., Lisa (Jim) Taylor of Denver, N.C., Denise (Dan) Nelson of Edmond, Okla., and Mathew (Chrystal) Nystuen of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, Jacob, Chase, Griff, Ben, Chaz, Abbie, Cade, Reed, and Jaxon; two brothers, David (Donna) Nystuen of Inver Grove Heights and Keith (Sue) Nystuen of Faribault; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
