Using its length to its advantage, the Lake City girls basketball team gave Wabasha-Kellogg fits with its 1-3-1 zone defense.

“We got long, lanky girls on our team,” said Tigers head coach Candace Olstad. “Our starting guards are 5-foot-10, at least.”

With its defense holding the Falcons to five first-half points, Lake City cruised to a 66-21 victory Friday in Wabasha.

Setting the tone for the Tigers was senior post Taylor Koller, who finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Bailey Cronin had 16 points and six steals, and Breanna Gates helped control the offense with six assists.

Freshman forward Madi Green helped shore up the paint with 10 points for the Tigers.

The Tigers (2-0) are at home today, hosting Kingsland.
