Joyce Skaro, 86

Joyce Emily Skaro, age 86, of Dennison, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, Nov. 29.

Joyce was born on Oct. 24, 1926, near Sogn, Minn., the daughter of John and Gilma (Kasa) Underdahl. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Kenyon High School. She was married to Truman L. Skaro on Dec. 9, 1950, at Vang Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in rural Dennison where they farmed their entire life together. Joyce served as the organist as well as financial secretary for Urland Lutheran Church for several years.

In her life, she valued her faith in God, her family and many friends, and received much joy from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Joyce is survived by her children, Dennis of Dennison, Deborah (Michael) Judge of Inver Grove Heights, and Dawn (Lyle) Lorenson of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Lorenson, Jeffrey (Christi) Lorenson, Cory (Kiandra) Judge, Kelsey Judge; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lorenson, Gavyn Lorenson, Kalynn Lorenson, and "arriving soon," Jaxon Lorenson ; sister Marion Rodde; brothers, Peter (LaVonne) Underdahl and LeRoy (Shirley) Underdahl; sisters-in-law, Shirley Prink, Beulah Jameson, Arla McWaters; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman, on Jan. 15, 2010; parents; sisters Clarabelle Brandvold, Agnes Johnson, and Gladys Wardell.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 Co. 9 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and also for 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorials may be directed to Urland Lutheran Church.

Active pallbearers will be Jason, Erin, Hunter, and Gavyn Lorenson and Cory, Kiandra, and Kelsey Judge. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Christi, Kalynn, and Jaxon Lorenson.
